Formed in Jersey City, New Jersey in the early 1970’s, The Kay-Gees were funk protégés of Kool and The Gang. Initially produced by Khalis Bayyan (Ronald Bell), older brother of later Kool and The Gang member Amir Bayyan (Kevin Bell), the group would later shift their sound from funk to disco after they moved over to De-Lite Records. The group eventually disbanded in the late 1970’s.
