About The Jive Bombers

The Jive Bombers (AKA “Clarence ‘Bad Boy’ Palmer and the Jive Bombers) were an American band formed in 1947 under the name The Sparrows, becoming The Jive Bombers in 1952. The band consists of Clarence Palmer, Al Tinney, William "Pee Wee” Tinney, and Earl Johnson. They are best known for their 1957 single “Bad Boy”, which was a hit in the US.

The band is unique because of lead singer Clarence Palmer’s special vocal style where he scat-sings an indescribable “UAH-UAH-UAH” sound at the end of certain words or lines. It is used frequently in almost all of their songs.
