“When I think of the Jesus Lizard, I think of the greatest band I’ve ever seen,” said the band’s longtime collaborator Steve Albini, adding that they were “the best musicians I’ve ever worked with…the purest melding of the sublime and profane.”
The Jesus Lizard is an American post-hardcore/noise rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. Throughout the early-to-mid 90s, the band pioneered the underground noise rock scene with its loud, industrial-sounding yet blues and jazz-inflected guitar riffs, innovative rhythm section and notorious live shows.
Despite their popularity and signing to Capitol Records, the band was not commercially successful and disbanded in 1999. In recent years, however, the band has gone on several reunion tours.
