The Hauser Project is a six-piece hip-hop/lo-fi/jazz-hop project based in the UK. With writers, rappers and producers from different musical backgrounds, THP create a unique sound of jazzy hip-hop; blending together inspirations from around the world, writing and creating conscious poetry and instrumentals reminiscent of old-school hip-hop for the current era. With a common love for travel, THP draws inspiration from their worldly adventures in order to explore sounds, themes and ideas of all cultural influences. THP was founded by current members ImyK and KRIOS. Having been part of a now-defunct musical duo called Core//Mute and briefly working under the moniker of Digital Maestro, ImyK set out with KRIOS to set up a new hip-hop group, utilizing musicians from all over the world. To this end, THP was initially set up as a collaboration of 11 different artists across seven different countries, including writers, rappers, producers and live session musicians. By 2014, however, this was reduced to six members, all now based in England, UK. Their first big success came through First Date, a Valentine’s Day collaboration with rapper Wade and singer Tyler Alexis, both of Los Angeles, California. Released in 2013 and re-released in South Korea in 2014 through Link6 Music, First Date saw over 185,000 plays within a year, propelling The Hauser Project to within the top 1000 acts within South Korea in 2014. The sequel, Second Date, was released in 2015 and is also achieving notable success of similar trajectory. First Date was also included as part of Japan’s Goon Trax compilation album, In Ya Mellow Tone 10.5, which achieved a top 10 spot on the iTunes Japan charts. Second Date was released on In Ya Mellow Tone 12 in May 2016 and reached number one on the iTunes Japan chart for hip-hop releases. Their debut EP, Occultus Occulto, released in Summer 2015, saw THP collaborate with emcees and vocalists from all over the globe – including Seattle (USA), Bordeaux, Paris and Orleans (France), Japan, Delaware (USA) and New York City (USA). Occultus Occulto was released through Roots of Society Records (USA), with additional distribution through Link6 Media of South Korea. Their second EP, The Journey Is The Reward, was a seven-track instrumental project released on the same label.
