The Chiffons started as a trio of school girls in 1960. In 1962, they became a quartet and had a couple of minor hits in 1963 as “The Four Pennies,” but were The Chiffons by the time their first big hit “He’s So Fine” topped the charts. They were able to continue their streak of chart success, even during the British invasion, until around 1968.
