(The Cavemen.) is a highlife band consisting of siblings, Kingsley Okorie, a bassist and Benjamin Okorie, a drummer. The Lagos, Nigeria-based two-man band was formed in March 2018. They should not be confused with the New Zealand artiste with the same name (without the dot).
The Cavemen. combines elements of Highlife, Afrobeat, Jazz, and Soul music to form ‘Highlife Fusion’. Their smash single, Osondu became the penultimate track on their debut album, ROOTS. The song was single-handedly credited for reigniting the country’s highlife scene.
Production on the 16-track album was handled by the brothers, while Lady Donli served as the executive producer. In return, the duo produced 11 songs off Lady Donli’s debut album – Enjoy Your Life album.
ROOTS won the award for the ‘Best Alternative Album’ at the 14th Headies award. The band’s sophomore album, Love and Highlife features musician, producer, and songwriter, Cobhams Asuquo.
The band has been featured by heavyweights in the Nigerian music indystry – MI Abaga (The Inside); Kizz Daniel (Oshe); Phyno and most recently, Na Money off Davido’s Timeless album.
