About The Brian Jonestown Massacre

The BJM is an American psychedelic rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1990, led by frontman and guitarist Anton Newcombe. Named “The Brian Jonestown Massacre” in tribute to The Rolling Stones' founder and guitarist Brian Jones and the infamous mass cult suicide in Jonestown, the band have gained infamy for their tempestuous working relationships and the drug addiction of their leader, Anton Newcombe, with his demanding persona, iconic to that of any creative genius. Newcombe has played some 80 instruments across the BJM’s albums. The band gained media attention through the award-winning documentary, DIG!, which chronicled the love/hate relationship between the BJM and the Dandy Warhols.
