About The Boom Boom

The Boom Boom were a Canadian trio consisting of members Alex Biro, Bobby Lo and Kara Lane.

First appearing in 2011, the band wasted no time in presenting their first release in September, Booty and the Beats, an EP consisting of five tracks of pure, unapologetic pop as well as a sixth track which took the form of a live performance of the second track, “Jealous”.

The band followed their debut with a string of live shows at The Drake Hotel, as well as posting live, intimate performances of their songs. They continued with a few more bubblegum pop songs and some more videos, before shifting gear and changing their sound slightly, which culminated in the release of their second EP, Songs From Mom’s Basement, in 2013.

To promote their EP, they returned to The Drake Hotel for another handful of performances as well as posting more live, intimate videos from “mom’s basement”.

In July 2014, the band took to their Twitter and announced that they were nearing completion on their first record, but were no longer signed to a major record label. Two months later, the band re-emerged under a new stage name, K.I.D (kids in despair), under which they promptly released their first mixtape for free, which they simply called K.I.D.
