The Bomb Squad

The Bomb Squad is a highly respected production team comprised of Hank and Keith Shockley, Eric “Vietnam” Sadler, and Gary G-Wiz. They are best known for their work with hip-hop supergroup Public Enemy—they are the force behind some of the group’s best known hits, such as “Fight the Power” and “Bring the Noise.”

The Squad’s loud and dense production complimented Chuck D’s baritone and helped Public Enemy achieve their militant, roaring sound. Simultaneously, they are known for flipping obscure (and numerous) samples to create an eclectic, collaged sound—this technique was sonically groundbreaking and could be described as shoegazing in hip-hop.
