Now based in San Francisco, California, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down are an alternative folk rock band that started in Falls Church, Virginia, with their first album Like the Linen in 2005.

Thao Nguyen is the band’s lead vocalist and plays guitar; Adam Thompson does backing vocals and plays guitar, bass, and keyboard; Charlie Glenn plays guitar and piano; Jason Slota plays drums; and Johanna Kunin does backing vocals and plays piano.
