About Terry Anderson

Terry Randall Anderson (born December 25, 1956) is an American musician. He is a drummer, vocalist and songwriter from North Carolina, where he was a member of local bands, The Woods and The Fabulous Knobs.

He first gained notoriety as the writer of the song “Battleship Chains”. Originally performed and by his band, The Woods, it was later made famous by Southern Rock band, The Georgia Satellites, who released the song on their 1986 self-titled, debut album. “Battleship Chains” reached number 86 on The Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Battleship Chains went on to be recorded by several other artists as well. A cover of the song appears on the album, ‘Hindu Love Gods’, by the band Hindu Love Gods – a collaboration between members of R.E.M. and Warren Zevon. “Battleship Chains” also features on The Wildhearts' covers album, ‘Stop Us If You’ve Heard This One Before: Vol 1’.

Izzy Stradlin and The JuJu Hounds, which included Georgia Satellites member, Rick Richards, often included “Battleship Chains” in many of their sets.

After his departure from The Georgia Satellites, Dan Baird covered Anderson’s song, “I Love You Period”, on his 1992 album, ‘Love Songs for the Hearing Impaired’.

In 1995, Anderson released his first solo album, ‘You Don’t Like Me’, followed in 1996 by, ‘What Else Can Go Right’ and ‘I’ll Drink To That’, in 2001. Terry Anderson has been a member of the band, Terry Anderson and The Olympic Ass-Kickin' Team since 2005.
