Sumner, the Tasmanian alternative electronic duo comprised of Chloe Wilson and Jack McLaine, has garnered critical acclaim for their captivating melodies, intricate electronic production, and authentic lyrics.
In 2018, Sumner caught the music world’s attention with a handful of self-released material. This led to Sumner’s signing with Lab78, a label co-founded by Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes of PNAU in partnership with Australian indie label Etcetc. It was their 2021 release, Stranded, which marked the beginning of a series of singles co-written and produced by PNAU, that propelled the Tasmanian duo to new heights. With over 2.5 million streams and heavy airplay, the song quickly became Triple J’s most-played track for over a week.
“Pete and I came across this band while on tour in regional Tasmania. We shared a stage together at the Forth pub on a sweet breezy day a few years back. We were struck by their fierce intensity. Chloe commanded the stage conjuring notes of Chrissie Hynde, Iggy Pop and Karen Finley. Jack the uber-cool, multi-instrumental wonder dazzling on any synth/bass or guitar he picks up and plays.” -Nick Littlemore, 2021
Sumner has recently supported acclaimed artists such as SAFIA, PNAU and Boo Seeka, and has performed at Party In The Paddock, For The Love and Wine Machine, leaving audiences wanting more of their addictive live show.
