Sudden Lights was founded in 2012 in Riga. Three years later they released their first single. A first album followed in 2017. At the beginning of 2018, the band took part in Supernova, the Latvian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. With the song Just fine, the group finished second. Five years later they participated in Supernova again, this time with success. Sudden Lights won the final with Aijā, allowing the group to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, UK.
