Steven Allen Spielberg (b. 1946) is perhaps Hollywood’s best known director and one of the most Influential personalities in the history of film. Thrice one of Spielberg’s works became the highest-grossing movie of all-time, with Jaws (1975), the first “blockbuster movie”; E.T. The Extraterrestrial (1982), a well-regarded family picture; and Jurassic Park (1993), a key moment in computer-generated visual effects. Other well known works of his include the Indiana Jones series (1981, 1984, 1989, 2008), and the Oscar winners Schindler’s List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Spielberg also had a hand in entertainment with his production company Amblin Entertainment, that helped launch the careers of the directors (Joe Dante, Robert Zemeckis) and acclaimed animated series (Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs).
