Squeeze is a British band that came to prominence during the new wave period of the late 1970s. They successfully continued touring and recording through the 1990s, registering hits such as “Cool for Cats”, “Tempted” and “Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)”

Squeeze was formed in Deptford, London in 1974 by principal members & songwriters Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. The band would go on to break up in 1982, reform in 1985, break up in 1999, and reform once more in 2007. The band is currently made up of Glenn Tilbrook (guitar, vocals), Chris Difford (guitar, vocals), Simon Hanson, Steven Large (keyboard), Steve Smith (percussion), and Yolanda Charles (bass).

Squeeze continues touring and recording, releasing their most recent album Cradle to the Grave during October, 2015.

Though the band is labeled as “New Wave”, Glenn Tilbrook has stated in interviews that he doesn’t consider the band New Wave, but rather Pop.

The songwriting duo of Difford and Tilbrook was often labeled by the media as “The second coming of Lennon and McCartney,” something the two resented.
