With a loud and colourful rap flow and happy-go-lucky sounding songs, Mikael Adam Mohd Rafee Michel Lozach, known more by his stage name, “SonaOne”, has become the top rapper of Malaysia currently, and possibly one of the best fresh new rappers in South East Asia by having 6 nominations and from that, winning 3 accolades from the Anugerah Industri Muzik ke-21 (21st Musical Industry Awards) for his hit songs, “No More”, “Hakeleh” and collaboration with Joe Flizzow, “Havoc”.
Born on the 30th of November, 1988 in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia from French and Malay parents, he mostly lived outside of his birth place in different countries like Spain, France and Japan. He started making music when he was 6 when his father gave him a Sony Soundpad, although he was more known as a graffiti artist until 17 when he was recruited by Joe Flizzow into Kartel Records.
He released 3 mixtapes around 2010 to 2011 (Illegal Downloads Vol. 1, Tuna Spaghetti, Illegal Downloads Vol. 2), which made him get a nomination for the Shout! Awards 2010 for the Flava Award (Hip Hop category). A few years later, he released 2 singles, “No More” and “Hakeleh” around 2013, and collaborated with Joe Flizzow for “Havoc” and “Apa Khabar, respectively released on 2014 and 2015. These singles reached him to Malaysian stardom and broke him into the mainstream Malaysian music industry.
He released his debut album, “Growing Up Sucks” on 2016; the theme being about reality while sounding poppy. The album included his solo singles he had made too.
