The pop-punk act Something Corporate formed in Orange County, CA in 1998, with Andrew McMahon as lead vocalist and pianist, Brian Ireland on drums, Kevin “Clutch” Page on bass, Josh Partington on lead guitar, and Richard Hernandez on rhythm guitar. With this lineup they released their debut album, Ready…Break.
After replacing Hernandez with William Tell, in 2001 they signed with MCA Records (later Universal Music Group), but their albums were released under the Drive-Thru Records banner. They first released two EPs, 2001’s Audioboxer and 2003’s Songs For Silent Movies, as well as two studio albums (2000’s Leaving Through the Window and 2003’s North).
The band went on hiatus in 2004, briefly reuniting for to play three songs after a Jack’s Mannequin set at Bamboozle Left in 2006 and a greatest hits tour in 2010. They also released a greatest hits album, Played in Space.
Lead vocalist, lyricist, and pianist Andrew McMahon later found success with his band Jack’s Mannequin, and more recently Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.
