Arthur Jannello-Ruiz (Slouch) was born on July 8th, 2001 in Queens, New York. Predominantly old school rapper, Slouch shows a variety of rap styles Andy flows and brings out the versatility in his songs. Slouch’s first ever released song on his current SoundCloud account is a freestyle to the famous “Free Smoke” instrumental by Drake over a year ago. Slouch’s major influencers in the music industry are Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, J.Cole, Eminem and the deceased rapper XXXTENTACION. Slouch relates to these artists because “Each artists talks about a situation I’ve been through in my life. I idol them because I can relate to them.”-Slouch. Slouch in his earlier life was more of a singer than a rapper, starting with pop stars like Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber and Usher. Slouch also had a passion for the performing arts, competing in competitions and going to Atlantic City to compete in the National Championship. As Slouch got older he was introduced to rap music mainly by his brothers and his uncle who was a well known DJ back in the 90s’. It was around 8th grade when Slouch finally found his first rap idol, Eminem. Slouch fell in love with Slim’s extensive vocabulary and word play and would listen to his songs on repeat just to learn all of the lyrics. Slouch likes to keep his songs lyrical because he feels that “there is a message that needs to be heard through (his) music”.
