Sligh Talkbox is a versatile Hip Hop musician from Grand Rapids, MI with deep funk and g funk roots. This veteran artist started out as a guitarist and fell in love with Hip Hop during the Golden Era in the 1990’s and hasn’t looked back. Sligh began writing & producing Hip Hop in the mid 90’s with a funk infused sound with catchy hooks and feel good lyrics. He expanded his skills as a musician by adding bass guitar an keyboard to his repertoire.
In 1997 Sligh released his first Hip Hop album as part of a Hip Hop duo “Love West.” He followed this album up with a solo effort “Sligh’s Special Reserve” in 2000. Both albums had some underground buzz, but Sligh would have to go back to the lab. He released an album “Pure Gold” with the group Brothers On The Hill in 2009, but again something was missing for Sligh.

Sligh went back to his funk roots. He was a long time fan of the group Zapp & Roger. The talkbox was an instrument that had always intrigued Sligh and 2010 the beginning of the Sligh Talkbox Era began. Talkbox proved to be a pivotal piece of the puzzle for Sligh. He worked hard on his talkbox skills and has now recorded talkbox features for artists all over the world. Notable features include “Back To The Real Years” off the album Una Vez Mas by Sursilvaz G Funk legends from Chile, and 3 songs of Enois Scroggins 2019 album Feel My G Funk-Summer Comin' (Wadz Remix), Never Give Up on Life, and Ooh Wee Baby Wadz Extended Remix).

Sligh Talkbox released the LP “Sligh Boulevard” in June 2016. This album was nominated for Hip Hop Album of the Year in West Michigan as part of the annual awards event “The Jammies.” Album Link:

Sligh also joined the independent record label BUSTA Phree Records in 2016. In April of 2017 Sligh joined 40 Loccsta (MacaFramA) and the Busta Phree Crew opened up for DJ Quik at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Nebraska. Then in November of 2017 Sligh released MidWestCoast a collaboration album with label mate 40 Loccsta (MacaFramA).
Sligh released the critically acclaimed HEAT album on June 22, 2018. This 19 track album includes features from g funk legends Shade Sheist, Big Havikk (Havikk the Rhime Son, South Central Cartel), Enois Scroggins, and Mr. Zagre (Sursilvaz)to name a few!

UPDATE 3/16/19 Sligh Talbox dropped a new single the title track to “G Funk Punch.” The track features the talented Reggae Dancehall artist Rubi Dan from the UK!!!! Track is available on all major streaming platforms!!!!

On 8/10/19 Sligh Talkbox is releasing the second single “Power Play,” also from the upcoming album. This song features Spice 1 Thug Music Group’s artist Q Bosilini and Aramis616.
