About Sleater-Kinney

Sleater-Kinney is an Olympia, Washington rock band that formed in 1994. The band’s current lineup features Corin Tucker (vocals and guitar) and Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), following the departure of longtime member Janet Weiss (in 2019).

The influence of punk, “riot grrrl”, alternative rock, and the declaration of liberal feminist ideals has made Sleater-Kinney a unique and enduring part of the indie scene.

Carrie Brownstein went on to form a creative partnership with Fred Armisen to create popular sketch comedy show “Portlandia”.
