A lo-fi alternative country band formed in 1989 and disbanded in 2009. They are a showcase for the songwriting and singing of the poet David Berman, who was the only permanent member of the band. His lyrics offer an alternative, sometimes inebriated take on the traditional country themes of lost women, whiskey, Nashville, and disillusionment.
