Shirley Ann Lee was an American gospel singer and pianist. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and started her career in gospel music at a young age. She was known for her powerful voice and her ability to connect with audiences through her music. Her music has been described as “soulful” and “uplifting”. She was born at the tail-end of the Great Depression and grew up in a crowded house in Toledo, Ohio. She took her talent as a singer and pianist from there to a glamorous, gospel-fueled adolescence on the road and in Nashville.
