SHIFT UP Corporation is a South Korean game development studio and publisher based in Seoul. The company was founded on the 2nd of December, 2013 by the artist Kim Hung Tae and KyungRip Min to create mobile games for the South Korean player base, combining an engaging gaming experience, and captivating art.

The studio made it’s name after the release of the game Destiny Child in 2016, published by Line Games. But as the game is lewd, it had to be censored for international release in 2018.

In June 2020, Shift Up bought the publishing rights in order to bring an uncensored version of the game. The game eventually shut down on the 1st of September, 2023. However, players can still access the game and their characters collected.

On November 22nd, 2022, Project NIKKE: The Goddess of Victory was released for iOS and Android as GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE after development dating back to 2017 and soon after for PCs in February 2023.

On April 26th, 2024, Shift Up released Stellar Blade. Codenamed Project Eve during the development stage, it became a PlayStation 5 exclusive as Sony bought the marketing rights.

On December 16th, 2022, Tencent acquired a 20% stake in Shift Up, becoming the company’s second-largest shareholder after Kim himself.

On March 5th, 2024, Shift Up applied for IPO on the Korean Stock Exchange with 7.25 million shares being for sale during the initial public offering,. The value of Shift Up from its IPO is estimated to be able to grow to 2.3 billion USD from 1.53 billion USD after the release of GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE as the game reached No.1 spot by revenue on the App Store in various countries South Korea, Japan and Taiwan, making it one of the company’s most successful game to-date.
