Akiko Yano (矢野顕子) is a Japanese singer-songwriter, pianist, and composer. She is known for her eclectic musical style, which combines elements of jazz, pop, and electronic music. Yano has been active in the music industry since the mid-70s and has released over 25 albums. She has won numerous awards, including the Japan Record Award, the Grand Prix du Disque Français, and the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
Yano was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1955. She began playing the piano at the age of three and started writing songs at the age of 15. She moved to New York City in 1990 to pursue a career in music.
