About Sfiso Ncwane

Sfiso Ncwane born and bred in the South of KwaZulu Natal, in Mthwalume on the 21st April 1979 and passed away on the 5th of December 2016. Sfiso grew up with his aunt when he was just two weeks old, after his mother left him. Sfiso Ncwane received Jesus at a tender young age, after his talent was discovered by the local church.

Ncwane recorded his first professional album with Bula Music which was produced by Tshepo Ndzimande, who has produced the likes of Lundi Tyamara, Kholeka and others. This album was titled Makadunyiswe. This work introduced him to the world of the big time Gospel Industry.

The following year he released Inombolo Yasezulwini, where he featured the late legendary Vuyo Mokoena and Zodwa Twecu, and this album went on to become a best-seller.

In 2003 he released Umkhuleko and believes that this track was a God sent. It changed people’s lives, the album brought hope to many people’s lives, and it became a multi-selling album which changed the nation.

The album was No. 1 on all South African radio stations and went on to introduce him to other neighbouring throughout Africa, which meant that he had finally become a gospel star.

S’fiso Ncwane was then approached by CCP Records which is part of EMI Records.

With his career on the move, S’fiso went on to release his 1st album with EMI which was titled “Baba Ngyavuma”. The year 2006 proved to be a great year for S’fiso Ncwane since he was granted the opportunity to work with the likes of the Queen of Gospel – Rebecca Malope, Winnie Mashaba, Sipho Makhabane and others. He then later went on to release a DVD of this album, with his last album with EMI being titled Isiphephelo Sami.

Through his love for music, S’fiso Ncwane went on to launch his own music company called Sfiso Ncwane Productions. His album Baba Ngyavuma, which featured the hit award-winning song Phakama Nkosi yeZulu. This was his 1st offering from his company “Sfiso Ncwane Productions” which went on to sell more than 70 000 (more than Platinum Status) units. His longterm goal was for his company to assist young upcoming artists who have the talent for producing and writing songs.

Late in 2011, Sfiso Ncwane then released another huge hit song ‘Kulungile Baba’, this song went multiplatinum in just 16 months (selling 328 000) copies. Kulungile Baba was nominated Song of the year on the Crown Gospel Awards, won the biggest award in the South African music industry at the SAMA19 for ‘Record Of The Year’ 2013, and won an AGMA Award, these are London based Gospel Awards.

He died at 37, after kidney failure.
