Seungkwan was born on January 16, 1998, as 부승관 (Boo Seung Kwan) in Jeju, South Korea. He is a Korean singer and a member of the South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN and its sub-unit Vocal Team. Currently, he is signed with Pledis Entertainment.

The first time he sang in front of the public was when he was in the first grade of elementary school. He participated in the nursery rhyme conference as a class representative and won the first place in the school, as well as the sixth year in the elementary school. He was also inspired by his sister before he started to learn about music.

Seungkwan participated in a singing contest in the third grade of junior high school, singing Big Mama’s “연”. His art teacher’s liked song, so the teacher made a video of it for him, and then uploaded in UCC. The staff of Pledis Entertainment discovered it and invited him to the interview. He then passed the interview by dancing and singing, and officially became a trainee of Pledis Entertainment. Seungkwan debuted as a member of SEVENTEEN on May 26, 2015.
