$erious Klein, also known as Seri, was born Kelvin Boakye on the 6th of June, 1991. He’s got Ghanaian roots, but was born in Bochum,, a city in the west of Germany – however, he grew up in Oer-Erkenschwick.

Klein started making music at the age of twelve under the name of Key Bee. He released his first mixtape The Rolling Stone in 2010 with DSTY records. Klein didn’t adopt his current stage name until the release of his second EP The Serious Outlook in 2012. He released his third EP The Introduction in 2015, again with DSTY Records. His upcoming album States is expected to be released next summer (2018).

Klein told the German site rap.de that his music was influenced by an array of artists of his time, ranging from 2Pac to Luther Vandross. He himself states that he makes ‘Artrap’ music, which can described as a unique rap style, influenced by soul, jazz, funk and trap.

2016 was the year that saw Serious coming into contact with artists such as Denzel Curry and Mick Jenkins. He joined The Underachievers on a couple of dates of their Europe tour in March, 2016 as their support act. Debut EP “The Serious Outlook” (2012) put Klein on the map in his small German city. His following EPs “The Introduction“ (2015) and "Summer 03’s Problem” (2016) gained Klein more popularity within his local market and a new found recognition in the US & UK.

Later that year, Serious was invited to perform at Grammy award winner Alicia Keys’s underground in Berlin and was recognized by the lady herself as one of the hottest urban newcomers in Germany. Serious Klein is expected to deliver his highly-anticipated album in 2018.
