Sef Naqui is a singer, songwriter, A&R, and producer based in London, UK.
Naqui started his music career in the early 2000’s as part of singing duo The Reelists, who were signed to Go! Discs under Ferdy Unger Hamilton. They released a single ‘Freak Mode’, as well as providing vocals and writing on the singles ‘So Grimey’, ‘Haters’ and ‘Broken Silence’ by So Solid Crew.
In 2003, he signed to Atlantic Records via Max Lousada. He also inked a deal under Guy Moot at EMI Publishing. During this time had sessions with Rod Temperton, DeVante Swing, Robin Thicke, Sean Garrett, StarGate and several other urban music heavyweights. His time with Atlantic was short-lived however, due to continuous delays of his debut album.
In 2006, Roc Nation signed him as part of the production team, Music Kidz with Shabz & K-1. During this three-year stint at ROC NATION, he was in sessions for The Saturdays, Blue and Alexandra Burke, as well as with several of the labels' associate artists, songwriters and producers including Rita Ora, Marlene, Emeli Sandé, J. Angel, Autumn Rowe, Lazonate Franklin, and Tiffany Fred,
In 2009, Naqui announced the release of his mixtape The Hero Never Dies, while also releasing the single/music video “Need A Hero”. He had planned to follow this in 2010, with the album Every Piece Of Me.
As of 2020, after taking a step back from being an artist and being more involved in talent management, and in collaboration with Shabz’ increasing involvement at ROC NATION as A&R, Naqui is now the MD of LBE Music Group. The label is home to acts/producers including Mason Bay (Merky), Dirty Saj (SN1/Warner Bros), Certified Bangerz, and Young Chencs.
