Initially a side project for Trey Spruance of Mr Bungle, recording a b-side for a 7" included with the vinyl version of “Platypus”, Secret Chiefs 3 eventually morphed into it’s own project, with Trey Spruance more intentionally leading SC3 into more esoteric and eastern-influenced music. Latter versions of SC3 have again changed into something else, with the different facets of the music being represented by side-bands (FORMS, UR, Ishraqiyun, Electromagnetic Azoth,) with their own identities and focus.
