After packing a duffel bag and buying a one way ticket to Los Angeles, Seb Torgus decided to leave his hometown of Chicago and begin the next chapter of his artistry. Leaving the city that shaped his former sound wasn’t easy, but with time in his new environment Seb quickly began working on his debut EP, Idol Boy. The 5 song project reflects Seb’s inner struggles with his past; drawing inspiration from his Chicago upbringing, Idol Boy delivers an alternative nostalgic sound for the pop world. Idol Boy ranges from disco anthems like “Matter of Time” to 80’s heartbreak hits ready to sweep you off your feet. After the second song “Runaway,” Seb breaks into a heavy bass-line fueled “Diamond Glove,” which acts as Idol Boy’s true awakening. What follows is “Save Me”, a heavy 808 influenced production where Seb finally lets go of his past, ushering in what seems to be his more therapeutic song. As much as the debut project shines on the vulnerable side of Seb, it also transcends into the darker inner-struggle facing the Chicago artist. In the three records leading up to “Save Me”, Seb expresses feelings of being shadowed, manipulated, and lost. The last and final record on the project “Ups & Downs” gives the audience a feeling for what’s going on in Idol Boy’s head. “Ups & Downs” examines the bipolar emotions of Seb’s transition into Los Angeles and acts as the definitive catalyst to the project. With Idol Boy, Seb hopes to capture his audience and deliver the first true glimpse into his own world.
