About Screaming Females

Screaming Females were a rock band from New Brunswick, NJ. The band comprised Marissa Paternoster on guitar and vocals, Jarrett Dougherty on drums, and “King” Mike Abbate on bass.

Abbate and Paternoster formed a band in high school under the name Surgery On TV. After several lineup changes, they finally decided on the trio and a name change to Screaming Females.

After two self-released albums, Baby Teeth (2006) and What If Someone Is Watching Their T.V.? (2007), they signed with local label Don Giovanni Records. They would go on to release six albums on the label: Power Move (2009), Castle Talk (2010), Ugly (2012), Rose Mountain (2015), All At Once (2018) and Desire Pathway (2023).

On December 5, 2023, the band announced their disbandment on social media.
