About Saya Gray

Saya Gray is the Canadian-Japanese musician, singer-songwriter, producer, musical director, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist and designer from Toronto.

Growing up in an extensively musical and creative environment, Saya described how her childhood home “seconded as a music school”, where it was “Für Elise from the moment you woke up to the moment you slept”.
Her father, Charlie Gray, is an accomplished trumpet player, composer, and producer who has played for the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Tony Bennett. While her Japanese-born mother, Madoka Murata, is the founder and director of Discovery Through the Arts, one of Toronto’s largest independent music schools.

Having gained recognition as a session and touring bassist for the stars such as Daniel Caesar, WILLOW, and Liam Payne, Saya has displayed her prowess as a bass player for more than a decade. On the road, however, Gray’s solo career first began when she started capturing song ideas with her cell phone or in whatever nearby studio she had access to.

Saya’s focus is now her solo music, with her debut album 19 MASTERS, the record is almost entirely produced, written, and performed by Saya Gray.
