About Sarah Kay

Sarah Kay (born June 19, 1988) is an American poet. She is known for her spoken word poetries that are expressive and strongly delivered. Kay is the founder and co-director of Project VOICE, founded in 2004. Project VOICE is a group dedicated to using spoken word as an educational and inspirational tool.

Kay published B, a short hardcover book containing the poem and more works, in 2011. The book features illustrations by Sophia Janowitz. In March 2014, No Matter the Wreckage, a compilation of poetry from the first decade of her career, was published and again, featuring illustrations by Sophia Janowitz. The Type was published in 2016, it features an illustrated version of her poem by the same name (with drawings by Sophia Janowitz as in her book B).
