Samuel, known by the Korean name Kim Samuel (김사무엘), was born as Samuel Arredondo Kim on January 17, 2002 in Los Angeles, California. He is an independent American singer-songwriter based in South Korea. He was formerly a trainee under Brave Entertainment.

He is best known for his appearances in pre-debut footage of Kpop boyband SEVENTEEN (under Pledis Entertainment), as “Punch” in duo 1PUNCH, and for his participation in Korean reality hit show Produce 101.

Under the name PUNCH, Samuel collaborated with American rapper Silento to release a single titled “Spotlight” in 2016, which won the 26th Seoul Music Award for Global Collaboration. He later joined Silentó on tour in the US.

In 2016, Samuel released his first mini album SIXTEEN, which spawned the title track by the same name and became his biggest hit. In 2017, he returned with his first full-length album Eye Candy and followed the album with his second mini album ONE and its repackage TEENAGER.

Samuel was embroiled in a lawsuit with his former company for over three years, ultimately winning the suit in 2021. He made his first comeback in five years in 2024 with NOW.
