Ryan DeRobertis is an American electronic musician and singer who grew up in Farmingville, New York and attended Boston College for two years studying music. His electronic music project Saint Pepsi began in December 2012 primarily as a vaporwave project. He was regarded as one of the most prominent artists in the vaporwave scene, with his most successful album Hit Vibes said to have pioneered the future funk subgenre that formed a community all its own since then. Unfortunately, after the release of Gin City in early 2014, Ryan had to drop the alias simply due to a lawsuit from PepsiCo making a profit off of their name. Since then, he has continued to make electronic music under the name Skylar Spence (named after his favourite Saint Pepsi track), though this time, he has decided to continue pursuing his music career making synthpop, ditching the sample-heavy sound that made him rise to prominence for a much more original take on his production talents.
