Shaq Resendiz (born September 2, 2003), known professionally as sadboyshaq is an American recording artist from Greensboro, North Carolina.

sadboyshaq first received some spotlight when a popular YouTube video was made entirely around his 2020 track “HEDIED.” After a new wave of supporters stuck to his fanbase, his track “hedied (pt.2)” was released and saw massive success on TikTok—ultimately throning him in the hyperpop scene.

shaq’s music career didn’t just take off abruptly, as he started off making meme rap around the age of 10—under the alias Lil Shaq. He coined his current name from a previous rap group he was planning to create with his friend sadboyparis, he explained in an interview with Breativity.

We was in middle school. […] It was me and my nigga Paris and we was thinking about being like a little, uh, group or whatever. It was like me, him, and another nigga. And he made up a little, a little fucked up name called “sadlilhxrse.” I was like… sadlilhxrse? sadlilhxrse. I was like, “What the fuck nigga? What type of shit you on?” I was like damn, I'ma just be Shaq. I'ma just be sadboyshaq. I'ma add that shit to my name but I’m still gon' be myself.
