About Sabaton

Sabaton, previously known as Aeon, is a Swedish power metal band that was founded in 1999.

The name “Sabaton” comes from a medieval foot covering armor piece called a “sabaton:”

We chose this name for our band because we felt it was simple, it related to our song topics and it evoked curiosity among people.

Sabaton’s main themes are based on war and historical battles with a focus on WWI and WWII while other battles, wars, and historical figures are also prominently featured on their compositions.

The band is well known for their songs “To Hell and Back” and “The Last Stand”. Sabaton has also released a certified platinum album Carlous Rex.
