About Roll Deep

Roll Deep are an English grime crew formed in 2002 with the release of the song “Terrible”. Founding member Flowdan came up with their name, inspired by the phrase’s use in dancehall songs. He claims in Wiley’s 2017 book Eskiboy that he was in charge of most of the crew’s marketing, and Wiley was the ‘musical genius’ of the group.

The crew released a number of mixtapes before being signed to a major label and releasing their debut album, In at the Deep End, in June 2005. Their second album Rules and Regulations was released in 2007, followed by the release of Return Of The Big Money Sound in 2008.

Wiley and former members Dizzee Rascal and Tinchy Stryder have gone on to be successful solo artists in the UK and even the U.S., with multiple songs that have topped charts. Roll Deep released their fifth album in 2012 before entering an indefinite hiatus in 2013.
