Rocky Mark Lynch was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado and is the third child in a family of five children: four boys and one girl. In the fall of 2007, he and his family moved to Los Angeles due to dreams about making it in the entertainment industry.

Rocky and his siblings have always been interested in performing and after he taught himself how to play the guitar, Rocky taught his brothers, Riker Lynch and Ross Lynch, how to play the bass and guitar. They played together and soon they recruited their sister, Rydel Lynch, who could play the keyboard. When they learned that their best friend, Ellington Ratliff(More famously known as “Ratliff”) could play the drums, they added him to the band and “R5” was complete.
