About Rockit Music

Rockit Music (previously Rockit Gaming) is a nerdcore gaming duo consisting of best friends Russell McKamey (a.k.a. Scary the Kid, MAXIMUS, and Rockit) and Vincent Newsom (a.k.a. Vinny New). Their music topics vary from different popular pop culture media, typically video-games, movies and series. Vinny was born on May 9, 1990 and MAXIMUS on September 4 of the same year, in California, but they grew up in Austin, Texas.

A month after creating their YouTube channel, Rockit Gaming released their debut single, “Fatalities,” which was based on the Mortal Kombat series and featured one of the most popular nerdcore artists, JT Music. The song gained massive popularity, establishing Rockit’s brand well. The following October, they released their first album, Heavy Ammo from JT Music and other established nerdcore artists like TEAMHEADKICK and Laidyslayer. The album was a compilation of nearly all songs released until that point.

Two months after releasing their album, they started to specialize in music about the gaming franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNaF) with their release of their EP, F.N.a.F (I, II, III, IV). When the following games in the franchise released (FNaF World in January 2016 and Sister Location in October of the same year), Rockit Gaming continued making albums and songs on the franchise. In September 2016, they released Sister Circus and #GameOn, dedicated to their respective games.

Since then, Rockit Gaming created a slew of songs about the following games in the FNaF franchise: Help Wanted (released May 2019), Curse of Dreadbear (a DLC of Help Wanted released October of the same year), and Security Breach (released December 2021). The same month Security Breach was released, the duo made two major changes: releasing “Total Insecurity,” a Security Breach-themed song that remains their most popular song to be released, and rebranding their socials to Rockit Music to keep a more mature theme with their content.

Aside from the FNaF franchise, Rockit Music created songs based on other video game and movie franchises. Noteable video game franchises include Bendy and the Ink Machine (which spawned a 2018 album, Permanent), Bendy and the Dark Revival, Overwatch (which spawned another 2018 album, Heroes Never Die), and Cuphead. Noteable movies include Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (released in 2019 with the track “Stay With Me”) and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (released in 2022, with “I Am Death” released the following year). Rockit Music also created rap battles based on the franchises' characters (FNaF included), including an EP based on the rap battles, FVB (released in 2018).

On March 1, 2022, Rockit released a Groupees bundle, releasing several greatest hits compilation albums spanning from 2016 to 2021 (excluding 2018, as there was a Greatest Hits 2018 released in the titular year). The bundle also included the release of a Little Nightmares titularly titled album.
