This band /rif was formed in 1992 under the name Badai Band. A year later their name changed to R.I.F (Rhythm In Freedom), which started by playing music from cafe to cafe. In 1994, they changed their name to /rif (with a slash at the beginning of their name).

Several times their personnel changed. Until finally with the formation of Andy (vocals), Iwan (bass), Jikun (guitar), Maggi (drums) and Denny (guitar) they entered the recording studio in 1997 and released their first album, Radja, which catapulted hits with the same title. with Radja. In October 1998 /rif released their second album, Salami, an album loaded with moral content to protect nature. Two years later, in April 2000 to be exact, the third album titled Enjoy Aja was released.
And in 2002 they released their fourth album, entitled …Dan Dunia Pun Tersenyum. Entertainment In the middle of 2002, Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia again gave the opportunity to the single ‘Dunia’ to fill the soundtrack for the Spiderman film. Although limited to local editions, their name has been successful alongside international musicians such as Aerosmith and Sum 41.
