About REASON

Robert Lee Gill Jr., better known by the stage name REASON, is a rapper from Del Amo, Carson, California.

REASON got his start on SoundCloud with his 2015 single, “The Proof.” Before the single, he released his debut mixtape In The Meantime in 2015. A year later, he released his second mixtape,
The Free Album, then seven months later, his third mixtape The Proof was released. In 2017, he released his fourth mixtape, There You Have It.

REASON first attained widespread popularity after his scene-stealing verse on “Seasons,” the twelfth track on the Black Panther soundtrack that was curated by Kendrick Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith.

On August 8, 2018, REASON was announced as the newest signee of Top Dawg Entertainment through a tweet from Top Dawg. An introductory single by REASON, titled “The Soul,” was released to coincide with his signing. Also, his record deal came shortly after it was announced that REASON would be opening for Jay Rock on The Big Redemption Tour.

REASON released There You Have It, his debut album under TDE, on September 28, 2018. It was a re-release of his aforementioned 2017 mixtape of the same name.
