Rat City’s meteoric rise continues with their infectious new single ‘Deliriously Good’, the official follow-up to their Scandinavian platinum debut single “Kind of Love” which hit #1 Shazam and spent 7 weeks at #1 on Norwegian radio. The song received extensive Spotify playlisting, US radio airplay at SiriusXM and iHeartRadio Evolution, as well as praise in Earmilk, YourEDM and EDM Sauce. Depicting the ultimate dysfunctional relationship, ‘Kind Of Love’ features the vocal talents of Norwegian newcomer Isak Heim, and was performed live for the first time on June 21st on Norway’s biggest pop music TV show, VG Lista (see the clip here). Says band member Kent, “It was an exciting moment for us as it was the first time we had played live on stage together. I thought it was pretty great!”
A high concept audio visual project seamlessly fusing song and image, Rat City was conceived by Norwegian songwriter/producers Kent and Cato Sundberg, who have been a part of the Stargate writing stable and to date have had six #1 songs across Scandinavia. Lasse Michelsen joined in 2018 and as producer/writers Rat City have already had hits with Lila and Chris Holsten as well as remixing Mike Posner’s project Mansions and producing US-based Mako.
The band have spent most of the year in the studio putting the finishing touches to several new records which will appear between now and the end of the year, the first of which was a collaboration with superstar Dutch DJ, Lvndscape and was a cover of Men At Work’s classic Australian anthem, ‘Down Under’. The track features Rat City’s Kent Sundberg on lead vocals and the Rat City team lending a hand to Lvndscape on the production. You can hear the new song, out on Spinnin Records, here.
When challenged with the task of creating a visual identity for Rat City the brothers Sundberg approached US-based animator ‘Micah Monkey’ who designed a whole world for the band, characters from which premiered in their debut music video for “Kind of Love”. Says Cato, “We are all big fans of the Gorillaz and loved the idea of Rat City starting life as an animated project…telling stories of a hotbed of seedy characters who stab each other in the back at every turn.”
Added to Spotify New Music Friday playlists across the globe, Rat City’s latest single ‘Deliriously Good’ is accompanied by another eye-popping animated video that continues the technicolor hard-boiled tale introduced in the ‘Kind Of Love’ video.
