About Ralf Gum

German born, Ralf GUM is a prominent DJ and producer in the house music scene whose career dates back to the early 1990s. He is well-known for his distinctive funky, soulful, groovy and jazz infused productions and DJ-sets. He’s been a permanent fixture in the dance music scene for over two decades hosting parties, sessions and studio-lounges with artists like DJ Gregory, Martin Solveig, Lenny Fontana, Mousse T or Frankie Feliciano, to name just a few. His musical travels have given him international requests across the globe to conduct workshops to lend his expertise, knowledge about music-production, label business, DJ-ing and more to a multitude of aspiring talents.

Ralf GUM has performed as a DJ all over Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South and North America as well as Africa. Ralf has travelled across Europe, US, South America and Asia for appearances at some of the best music festivals around the world. Ralf’s influence in the House Music genre is undeniable. He has worked with notable artists such as; Caron Wheeler from Soul II Soul, Hugh Masekela, Omar, Beady Belle, Robert Owens, Inaya Day, Kenny Bobien, Michael Procter, Wunmi, Concha Buika or Monique Bingham. He also has remixed for industry’s top labels like Defected, Vega Records, Papa, Peppermint Jam, Tommy Boy, Compose, Knee Deep, Mn2S and major labels such as Sony Music, WEA or Urban. Ralf’s notable hit records can be found on rotation of major radio stations like UK’s “BBC 1”, France’s “Radio FG” or South Africa’s “Metro FM” regularly. In addition, Ralf GUM’s singles, “All This Love For You”, “Complicated”, was listed #1 on Botswana’s Yarona radio and “Fly Free”, “Little W. 12th St.” & “Free (Is All I Wanna Be)” which cranked South Africa’s Top 100 charts.

In 2008, Ralf GUM released his long-awaited debut album, Uniting Music, all original songs with infectious hypnotic beats taking influences from various musical styles. The album was regarded “simply one of the best albums of the year” by UK magazine M8 magazine. The album was released on GOGO Music and licensed to Rambling Records for Japan and to Soul Candi for South Africa. It included two outstanding collaborations with Monique Bingham “Kissing Strangers”, which was a worldwide hit.

In 2001, Ralf GUM development his own record label GOGO Music which has now expanded across different media markets like radio shows and music conferences. It is one of, if not, the best independent label in Germany specializing in the deep house and soulful sounds. Ralf has been instrumental in the breakthrough of artists like Raw Artistic Soul, Black Coffee and the discovery of many other talents throughout his career.

In 2012, Ralf GUM released “Never Leaves You” and “Take Me To My Love” which both reached number #1 in South Africa’s music charts and achieved gold status that year.

Ralf GUM has made a name for himself internationally as one of the best DJ’s and producers. He is undoubtedly well-respected and revered in the global house music scene and is honored by the praise and musical accolades from house music fans.
