R’mon The New Age Wage Slave, or for short R’mon the New Age, is a rapper, producer, and aspiring actor hailing from Kalamazoo Michigan. He is a Coast to Coast artist performing everywhere from Miami South Beach to the Mecca of Hip Hop, Bronx, NY. In his time as an artist, he has been featured on “Full Throttle Radio”
hosted by Fat Man Scoop and opened shows for Do or Die, Twista, MC Breed, Styles P., Trina, E-40, Method Man, Redman, Krayzie Bone, 112, and none other than the rap legend and fellow Michigan resident Eminem.
As a senior in high school, R'mon would skip class to go to his local music store to record his music. Thankfully for him, the owners and the workers at the store recognized the young man’s talent and enthusiasm for making music. So through this mutual respect, they supported him and allowed him to use the equipment.
R’mon has stated that if it was not for Ice Cube he would never have become a rapper, inspired most notably by his early work ‘Amerikkka’s Most Wanted’ and ‘Death Certificate’. He was pushed further lyrically by Andre 3000 of Outkast fame, as his lyrics would make you think, but also want to groove at the same time.
Then at the age of 17 R’mon started to make his own beats after being initially inspired by Dr.Dre and then challenged by Timbaland through his creativity and the complexity in his beats. And all of this reflects in his sound which he describes as ‘Timbaland meets Andre 3000” which he refers to as Blerd-Rap (Black Nerd rap).
R’mon has also founded his own record label ‘Modern Day Slave Muzik’
which houses a roster of local Hip Hop and R&B talent Jac Steele.
R’mon continues to pursue acting as well, currently signed with Agents in Chicago and Detroit. Needless to say this multi-talented artist is now reaping the rewards of the years of hard work he has put into becoming who he is today.
