Q. Amey is the epitome of a true artist, songwriter, and producer! He has written for Trey Songz “Last Time” (a top 10 hit) to Rihanna’s “Fading” off her multi-platinum Loud album selling over 8 million copies worldwide! He was born in Atlanta, Ga. where he started his journey for music at an early age of four living in Bankhead Courts. Q says, “it was very hard as a child living in some of the most notorious hoods of Atlanta” but, it’s where he got his passion to not be the average guy from the streets. From a young age he and his brothers (Mason Howell & Bennie Amey) started singing on their porch to make money from passing by neighbors and he says they made pretty good money to be kids! “After all I was only four years old”.
As he grew older though at the age 16 he was approached by the phenomenal group OutKast (Love Down Below, Speakerbox) to sign a solo recording deal. “It was a great opportunity” Q. says and he was a day away from signing before music executive Chris Hicks (Justin Beiber, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Michael Cox, Jazze Pha ) heard a demo of the young talented superstar! Chris immediately knew that there was something special about the young guy and matched the offer that Outkast was presenting along with his team of super producers and writers.
Amey was sold and they went straight to work; recording “I wish” written by Rico Love (Marcus Houston, Kelly Rowland, Cornaboyz, Omarion). However, Omarion went on to record the song “I wish” produced by Tha Cornaboyz and kept Q’s background vocals on it. Q says it was very inspiring to receive my first credits on a major artist’s album and It pushed him to speed up the process of his on project; not long after that he wrote “Forever Girl” a song ft. Jazze Pha that was very successful on rhythmic radio stations. The song was number one on Chicago’s B.96 and did very well in many other parts of the US, but it came to a halt when the label failed to deliver a visual before the song’s life started fading. Q was torn from the missed opportunity and he is now ready to conquer all that is in store for him. He’s started brand new and is in the process of signing a new major recording contract. Determined to make real; heart-felt; feel good music to touch the soul and help enjoy life; the world can look forward to falling in love with this extremely talented but humble artist formally known as Q. Amey.
