About PTP

PTP, an acronym for “Programming The Psychodrill” (taken from a text collage by J.G. Ballard), was formed in 1987 by Al Jourgensen.

PTP was commissioned to create a song for the film RoboCop. The track, “Show Me Your Spine” (which featured Nivek Ogre of Skinny Puppy) never appeared on the film’s soundtrack, but appeared in the actual film itself. The project went on to record two more tracks with the aid of Chris Connelly and Paul Barker, eventually resulting in a 12" single a few years later.

In a 1987 interview with Ipso Facto, Jourgensen lamented leaving Ministry to form PTP, while giving the reigns to Paul Barker to continue Ministry on his own. “I have a new band that’s just me, which is a new sound that nobody’s ever done before… That’s me, a Marshall stack and a Fairlight, that’s all. I’m starting from scratch, station wagon tour, no rock star. I’m just going to go out and break people’s fucking eardrums if I can because if that’s the only way I can make them open their eyes to what’s going on that’s what I’ll do.”
However, in a later 1990 interview with Alternative Press, Al stated: “We released that PTP record not expecting to release it and hype it and make some money, use our names, and that shit, that is an entirely different motive and intent. I think our motives and intent are OK to do something like that.”

PTP did not tour; however, all three tracks were performed by Connelly and Barker in 2021 as Luxapan at the Cold Waves Festival in Chicago, IL.
