Zachary Mwangi, also known by his stage name Proud Refuge, is a Sacramento-based singer-songwriter, rapper and producer. Formerly known as Pesa, Zach started using his current name in 2015, soon after discovering his purpose to use his voice to help spread, love and peace in the world. His brand, Mountain Movers Club, represents the faith he had to continue pursuing is gift in a way that allows him to share that with others.

The young Kenyan-American is among the new breed of African artists bridging the gap by taking the trap sensibility and elevating it to great effect. His smooth delivery and evocative vocal tone pair well with the bouncy, energetic production that defines his sound.
