Produce 48 was an Mnet reality competition show that aired in 2018. It is the third season of Produce 101, remaned Produce 48 as this season was a collaboration with J-pop idol group AKB48.

It was a large-scale project in which the public “produces” a girl group by voting for members out of a pool of 96 contestants from South Korea and Japan, as well as voting for the group’s concept, name and debut single.

The group that came out of the show was IZ*ONE and it consisted of twelve members: nine Korean and three Japanese. They promoted for two and a half years, debuting in October 2018 and disbanding in April 2021.
