About Procol Harum

Procol Harum was formed in England in 1967.

Its core line-up on the most notable early years from 1967 until 1970 was frontman Gary Brooker on lead vocals and piano, B.J. Wilson on drums, Matthew Fisher on organ, Robin Trower on guitar, Dave Knights on bass and lyricist Keith Reid.

Organist Fisher’s contribution is especially prominent on the band’s by far biggest hit, “A Whiter Shade of Pale”.

After the early period the band went through a number of changes, as well as a long hiatus, with frontman Brooker remaining the only consistent member.
